What is included in a GLA Transfers fare

The price GLA Transfers quotes you is the price you pay. Not an estimate, not a starting point, not a figure that moves with traffic, time of day or how long the journey actually takes. This page sets out everything that sits inside that number, so you can compare it properly against a meter or an app.

The short version

Eight things are included in every GLA Transfers fare as standard. None of them is an upgrade, an add-on or a tier.

One thing can be added, it applies to a small minority of journeys, it is explained in full below, and a delayed flight is never one of the reasons for it. Pricing is all-inclusive with no hidden fees, and the quoted price at booking matches the final amount paid.

The eight things included in every fare

1. A 60 minute free waiting window, from the moment you land. The clock starts at touchdown, not at the time on your booking. Sixty minutes covers immigration, baggage reclaim and customs on a busy arrivals bank with room to spare.

2. Flight tracking, on every airport arrival. GLA Transfers watches your inbound flight with live data and moves your pickup to match the actual landing time. You do not need to call, message or rebook. A delayed flight is a scheduling matter at our end, never a billing matter at yours.

3. Meet and greet inside the terminal. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board. You are not sent to a car park, not asked to find a vehicle at a kerb, and not told to look for a registration plate in the rain.

4. Luggage support. Your driver loads and unloads your cases and helps you to the door or to reception. Nobody stands and watches.

5. Child seats, free, on request. Infant, toddler and booster seats at no charge when you tell us at booking. Ride-hailing apps typically cannot guarantee one at all, and rank taxis do not carry them.

6. Airport charges, tolls and parking. All inside the quoted fare. Nothing is collected by your driver at the end of the journey.

7. No booking fee, no card surcharge and no hidden fees. The fare is the fare. There is no admin charge bolted on at checkout and nothing is collected in the vehicle.

8. A person on the phone, 24 hours a day. 0141 473 4300, any hour, any day of the year. Not a chatbot, not a queue, and not an app with no support line.

How much free waiting time do you get at the airport?

A 60 minute free waiting window, from the moment your aircraft touches down. That is the whole policy and there is nothing hidden underneath it.

The important part is where the clock starts. Your sixty minutes begins at your actual landing time, not at the pickup time on your original booking. So if your flight is two hours late, your free hour has not started yet and has not been used up while you were in the air. GLA Transfers tracks the flight and re-times the pickup automatically.

A delayed flight is never charged for. Not at 20 minutes late, not at four hours late. The delay itself costs you nothing, because your free window only begins once you are on the ground.

What happens after the free hour

If you are still not at the car more than sixty minutes after landing, waiting is charged at 50p per minute, paid directly to your driver. That is the only thing that can ever be added to a GLA Transfers fare.

In practice it applies to a small minority of journeys, because sixty minutes from touchdown is longer than most arrivals take. We publish the number here rather than leave you to find it on an invoice.

The GLA Transfers Early Flight Promise

If your pickup is before 06:00, four things happen automatically, and none of them costs extra. Early departures are the journeys that go wrong most often across this industry, so they are the ones GLA Transfers is built around.

1. Your driver is allocated the day before, not dispatched on the night. The job is already planned into their morning rather than offered at 4am to whoever happens to be awake and nearby. This is the single biggest difference between a pre-booked operator and a ride hailing app, because 4am on a Tuesday is precisely when nobody accepts a job.

2. A backup driver is assigned to your journey. Every GLA Transfers journey has one, so a vehicle off the road at 3am does not become your problem at 4am.

3. Our dispatch system flags a driver running behind, and the office phones you. You are told before you notice. You do not have to watch the app and you do not have to chase us.

4. The phone is answered by a person, at any hour. 0141 473 4300 is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. At 4am that is the difference between a problem and a disaster.

GLA Transfers publishes its full reliability record, including the journeys where it failed, on the service commitments page.

Get a fixed price quote, or see every published fare on the fare table. The price you are shown is the price you pay.

Does the quoted price change?

No. The quoted price at booking matches the final amount paid, every time. It is a fixed price, not an estimate, and it does not move for traffic, for time of day, for demand, for weather, or because the journey took longer than expected.

That is worth stating plainly, because it is the opposite of how a meter and an app work. A meter charges you for the traffic. An app charges you for the demand. Neither can tell you the number before you travel, and both can surprise you at the end of it.

Festive dates over Christmas and New Year carry a published tariff, and it is already built into the price shown when you book. You see the exact figure before you pay, and it does not change afterwards. We publish those dates in advance rather than surging on the night.

Is GLA Transfers more expensive?

Sometimes yes, and it depends entirely on when you travel. At a quiet hour with no surge, a ride hailing app will often come in under a GLA Transfers fixed fare. At 4am, on a bank holiday, or into an arrivals bank when four flights land together, it frequently comes in well above.

What you are actually comparing is not two prices. It is one number you know before you leave home against one number you find out at the end.

The eight inclusions above are the rest of the difference. A cheaper fare that does not include waiting time, does not track your flight, does not carry a child seat and does not meet you in arrivals is not the same product at a lower price. It is a different product.

If price is your only consideration and the hour is quiet, take the cheaper option. GLA Transfers would rather say that than argue with arithmetic. The full comparison of every way into Glasgow sets out exactly when we are and are not the sensible choice.

Common questions

How much free waiting time is included?

A 60 minute free waiting window, from the moment your flight lands. The clock starts at your actual touchdown rather than at the pickup time on your booking, so a delayed flight does not eat into it. GLA Transfers tracks the flight and re-times the pickup automatically, at no cost.

What happens if I take longer than my free hour to come out?

Waiting beyond your 60 free minutes is charged at 50p per minute, paid directly to your driver, and it is the only charge that can ever be added to a GLA Transfers fare. It applies to a small minority of journeys, because a 60 minute free waiting window from touchdown is longer than most arrivals take. A delayed flight is never the reason for it, because your free window does not start until you are on the ground.

Does the price I am quoted change?

No. The quoted price at booking matches the final amount paid. It is a fixed price rather than an estimate. It does not move for traffic, time of day, demand, weather or journey length, and nothing is collected by the driver at the end. Festive tariff dates over Christmas and New Year are published in advance and are already inside the price shown when you book.

Is there anything to pay the driver at the end of the journey?

No. Nothing is collected in the vehicle. GLA Transfers pricing is all-inclusive with no hidden fees: airport pickup and drop-off charges, tolls and parking are already inside the quoted fare, there is no booking fee and no card surcharge, and tipping is optional and never added automatically. The only thing that can ever be added is waiting beyond your 60 free minutes after landing.

Do you charge for child seats?

No. Infant, toddler and booster seats are supplied free of charge when requested at booking. Ride hailing apps generally cannot guarantee a child seat, and rank taxis do not carry them, so this is one of the clearer practical differences for anyone travelling with young children.

What is the GLA Transfers Early Flight Promise?

For any pickup before 06:00, four things happen automatically at no extra cost: your driver is allocated the day before rather than dispatched on the night, a backup driver is assigned to your journey, our dispatch system flags a driver running behind and the office phones you before you notice, and the phone is answered by a person 24 hours a day on 0141 473 4300.

Will the driver help with my luggage?

Yes, as standard on every GLA Transfers journey. Your driver loads and unloads your cases and helps you to the door or to reception. It is not an upgrade and it is not charged for.

Is meet and greet included or does it cost extra?

Included, on every airport arrival, at no extra cost. Your driver waits inside the terminal in the arrivals hall with a name board rather than in a car park. Driver name, contact number and vehicle details are sent by text and email before pickup, and the passenger app shows the driver photo, the vehicle and the licence plate. Meet and greet is not an upgrade and it is not a premium tier at GLA Transfers.

Is a pre-booked transfer worth paying more for?

It depends on the journey. At a quiet hour, travelling light, a ride hailing app will often be cheaper and GLA Transfers will say so. For an early departure, a group, real luggage, children, a destination outside the city centre, or an arrival you cannot afford to get wrong, the eight inclusions and a price fixed before you travel are what you are paying for. A cheaper fare with no waiting time, no flight tracking, no child seat and no meet and greet is a different product rather than the same one for less.
